Lifetime of a windowThe Meaning of the words - Lifetime Window Guarantee

Click here to view the different Window Manufactrers warranty's.

Did you ever wonder, when someone says "It has a lifetime guarantee", what exactly does that mean?  For instance, what is the average lifetime of a window or Door?

Well, according to the latest researchy that depends on where it is located (as in Florida versus Alaska), how it is installed (exactly according to the manufacturers specifications or on-the-fly), how often it gets used or abused and what types and quality of material is used in the manufacturing.

Average Life Span of Homes, Appliances, and Mechanicals

The following chart details the predicted life expectancy of household materials and components.

Under “Normal” conditions, Aluminum windows are expected to last between 15 and 20 years while wooden windows, installed in typical climate zones, should last nearly 30 years.

The problem with this report is it does not qualify "what is normal" and "what is typical"?  Weather in Florida is anything but normal or typical.  Gorell Vinyl Windows and Doors are guaranteed for 50 years under Florida conditions.  Now there's a guarantee you can live with.

Note: Lifetime expectancy varies with usage, weather (sun, wind, rain & humidity), quality of the installation, maintenance and quality of materials. Items listed as lasting more than 20 years, especially those that open and close, often fail prematurely due to misuse or overuse. This list should be used only as a general guideline, not as a guarantee or warranty regarding the performance or life expectancy of any product.
